World Suicide Prevention Day - September 10
According to the recently released World Health Organization (WHO) report, “Preventing Suicide: A Global Imperative”, over 800,000 people die by suicide across the world each year.
In Waterloo Wellington, funding for services that support residents with mental health and addictions concerns are a key component of our strategy for providing a high-quality, equitable health system.
The Waterloo Wellington LHIN is working in partnership with our network of 12 mental health and addictions health service providers to implement Ontario’s Comprehensive Mental Health & Addictions Strategy. The strategy includes $138 million over three years for community agencies to support improvements to mental health and addictions services, including suicide prevention.
On September 10, 2015 the Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council will be hosting and event to recognize World Suicide Prevention Day. Click here for more details on the event.
