From Health Quality Ontario
Now Available: A Single Point of Access for Health Care Wait Times in Ontario
Access to wait time information is now publicly available in one place thanks to the collaborative efforts of Health Quality Ontario, Cancer Care Ontario, CorHealth Ontario (formerly Cardiac Care Network) and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Anyone can now access information on wait times on the Health Quality Ontario website or through a link on Ontario.ca/health for surgeries and procedures, such as hip replacements, cardiac and cancer surgeries. Also, for the first time in Ontario, the wait times for patients to see a specialist will be publicly reported.
The website also reports the wait time between a patient and their specialist or surgeon deciding to go ahead with a surgery or procedure, to the patient having it.
Health Quality Ontario worked in collaboration with patients, caregivers, and clinical experts from across the province to provide input in how to present meaningful health information in a format that is easy to understand and use.
Thanks to the joint efforts of all of the partners, wait times information is reported at both the provincial level and facility/hospital level, where applicable, and will be updated monthly, quarterly, bi-annually or annually depending on the surgery type.
