Since late 2015, there has been a dramatic increase in refugees coming to the Waterloo Wellington LHIN. By defintion, refugees have faced persecution and/or trauma, many through war, forced relocation, torture, sexual assualt, or other violence.
In this presentation, we will discuss the mental health of refugees, common presentations of mental health distress (including PTSD) and best practices for care. The intended audience is any health care worker who assists refugees.
